If all goes well (and we hope it does), GTA VI is finally set to release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Getting to this date required weathering several delays. But, according to Take-Two, these delays were beneficial.
Strauss Zelnick, who has been quite vocal lately, stated during an interview that these delays helped avoid crunch at Rockstar Games. As a reminder, this term refers to a period—short or long—during which teams work long hours to finish a game before its launch.
Zelnick noted that a longer production schedule benefits both developers and fans, who will enjoy a higher-quality final product. The CEO of Take-Two does not wish to encourage stressful efforts to finish projects. « We do our homework; we don’t pull all-nighters », he said.
However, a post by a Rockstar India employee on Glassdoor describes grueling working conditions, including unpaid overtime and tasks to be completed within very tight deadlines.
