Steam doesn’t care about your backlog, and nor do I.
The PC storefront has added a further four free-to-play games to its roster, and I’m here to tell you all about them.
You see, you might feel overwhelmed by the amount of titles that you’re desperate to play, but that doesn’t mean you should overlook freebies.
You may just unearth a hidden gem and then you get to brag about it to your friends when it takes off days after you said it was cool.
The first title you may want to check out is Scaredy Cat, a cartoony action-adventure game from Hot Dawgs Studio where players assume control of a cat who steps into a forest alone to find a rare flower for a friend.
There’s a bit of an Animal Crossing flavouring here visually; gameplay wise, it seems you’ll be chatting to characters and traversing through that aforementioned forest.
The “short but heartfelt” experience reportedly only takes 10 to 20 minutes to finish, and it’s already garnered positive reviews from players.
If you enjoy roguelikes, then perhaps Midnight at Grimmi’s might be the game for you.
This one comes from indie dev José Rosales and is described as a “VTuber-themed survivorlike”, which essentially means it combines elements of Vampire Survivors with classic roguelike features.
This one’s set in a pixel art world and looks pretty cool, actually. You essentially just have to defeat waves of enemies but it looks more accessible than other survivorlikes I’ve seen.
For the cosy fans amongst you, Candy Shop Simulator: Sweet Start is a charming little prologue to Candy Shop Simulator by Games Incubator.
As you might’ve guessed, this one sees you create sweet concoctions and experiment with recipes, all whilst stocking and running a store.
It’s already received ‘Mostly Positive’ reviews from its players.
“It’s the perfect simulator! I recommend everyone try this game and cook up all kinds of tasty treats,” one review read.
Sounds well worth a play.
Finally, there’s Sinbadexpress from developer, uh, sinbadexpress.
It seems this one is less of a game and more of an “e-commerce virtual universe” that brings buyers and sellers together.
If you’re a company, you can introduce yourself to other businesses, using various tools to promote your wares.
Not sure that one has mass appeal, but the others most definitely deserve a little peruse.
