Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn is a blend of RPG and top-down metroidvania

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn has been revealed by Session developer Crea-ture and parent publisher Nacon, an interesting sounding top-down metroidvania that is set to release in 2027 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC.

Set within the World of Darkness universe, Rageborn is still based on tabletop RPG rules – specifically Werewolf: The Apocalypse fifth edition – but has taken a lot of inspiration from metroidvania action adventures. You’ll be able to switch between three forms of human, wolf and werewolf as you explore and fight against the Pentex mega-corporation. The shapeshifting element will play into the combat, even, so flying enemies such as drones are best taken out with a ranged weapon in Homid form, even if there is a window of weakness toward melee, while using the wolf form has greater flexibility for exploration with its agility and jump-dashing.

An interesting take on the long-running IP, and one we’ll be keeping an eye on.
