Halo: Campaign Evolved Announced, Coming to PS5, Xbox, and PC in 2026

Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios announced a remake of the original Halo game, calling it Halo: Campaign Evolved. It’s launching sometime in 2026 for Xbox, PC, Game Pass, and PS5.

It’s very unusual to see PlayStation revealing details about Halo, but here we are.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Changes

“Halo: Campaign Evolved has been rebuilt from the ground up to honor the original while modernizing the experience. The full campaign returns with every mission enhanced through high-definition visuals and all-new cinematics.” says Brian “ske7ch” Jarrard, community director at Halo Studios.

“We’ve also evolved the gameplay experience itself with smoother controls and movement, as well as improved wayfinding and combat flow. The soundtrack has been fully remastered, while the sound design has been rebuilt to deliver a more immersive experience.”

The game will feature modernized features and new content such the skulls feature to modify the campaign difficulty, and the ability to use nine iconing Halo weapon seen across the series such as the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, and Needle Rifle,. Hijacking was also added as the developers felt it has become a core aspect of the game’s identity, especially during campaign missions.

Halo: Campaign Evolved also features new prequel missions featureing Moster Chief and Sgt. Johnson set before the events of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign.

It’s a full remake through Unreal Engine 5 with 4K support, local 2-player split-screen co-op and online 4-player co-op across PS5, Xbox, and PC. Both the original game’s cinematics and audio was overhauled for the remake.

No release date was given, but expect Halo: Campaign Evolved to hit sometime in 2026.
