Borderlands 4 is set to arrive on September 12 for Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and PC and it’s bringing back all of the brilliant and bonkers fun that has made the series so iconic.
If you’re thinking about jumping into the game on either PC or Xbox, there’s a new controller on the way that really does complete the whole package, and it’s one of the coolest officially licensed products we’ve seen yet.
As first reported by GameSpot, PowerA’s brand new Borderlands Special Edition Wireless Controller launches on the same day as the main game and retails for $100 in North America, with no confirmed pricing details for the UK and Europe at the time of writing (though third-party sellers like Ebay have the controller available for a variety of prices).
The design on the controller is themed around the new game’s main antagonist, The Timekeeper, who rules over the planet Kairos with his faction, The Order. The most obvious thing to say is that it looks great, and the addition of some classic pieces of Borderlands iconography, including the spray paint logo.
It’s not all aesthetics though, and the controller is packing some mighty impressive details under the hood. The list of features provided by PowerA includes:

The company has been on a solid run with their officially licensed controllers in recent times, and this latest offering is much more akin to the Elite series of official Xbox controllers, than it is to the standard range. It’s also a fair bit cheaper than the Elite Series 2, which retails for £169.99/$199.99 in the UK and US respectively.
If Borderlands 4 isn’t of particular interest, the company also sells officially licensed controllers for other games, including Fortnite and even Pac-Man, for the more nostalgic players out there.
When launch day comes around, the controller will be available from all major tech retailers in North America, including Amazon, though details of confirmed retailers in the UK and EU are still unclear.
