When it launched in April 2024, the days were already numbered for TopSpin 2K25’s online features. In fact, a notice at the time indicated that the servers were scheduled to shut down [as early as December 31, 2026](https://news.instant-gaming.com/en/articles/6118-topspin-2k25-servers-could-close-as-early-as-december-31-2026.
This announcement was heavily criticized at the time, but 2K Games ultimately decided to extend the life of its tennis game’s servers. As a result, the shutdown will take place on December 31, 2027, across all platforms.
After that date, only the TopSpin Academy and Exhibition modes will remain playable.
It’s interesting to see how the gaming landscape evolves over time. While it’s always sad to see a game wind down, it’s great that players had some time to enjoy TopSpin 2K25. Looking forward to what the future holds for gaming!
