We got a first look at Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic during the Game Awards last December. This is a new single-player action-RPG set during the Old Republic era.
Casey Hudson, the director of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy, is leading this ambitious project with his team at Arcanaut Studios. In an interview with Bloomberg, Hudson reiterated his previous statement that he aims to release the game before 2030.
Hudson stated that he has never spent more than four years developing a single title and that this will not change with this one. He says he has no intention of dedicating five to seven years to it, as other studios might do.
Furthermore, generative AI will not be used to create Fate of the Old Republic. The director considers this method “creatively soulless” and “unhelpful”. External contractors will be brought in to assist Arcanaut.
