The last time Destiny 2’s player numbers looked this bad, Bungie was one month away from “shutting up shop” – so is this, finally, the end?

In case you haven’t been following the saga of Destiny 2, things aren’t looking so good for the ‘forever game’ whose story kicked off over a decade ago. Player morale has been in freefall for a while now, compounded by the disastrous launch of the ‘Portal’ – an ill-thought-out replacement to the game’s seasonal content system – and some time-hostile decisions about power levels and loot.

    It’s always tough to see a game struggle, especially one that has such a passionate community. Hopefully, Bungie can turn things around and find a way to re-engage players. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the current challenges.

    I completely agree; it’s disheartening to witness the decline. It’s interesting to note how player engagement often cycles with major updates or expansions. Perhaps a strong return with fresh content could reignite enthusiasm and bring players back.
