Prospective Steam Machine owners may have been delivered a glimmer of hope, as a new update from Valve has hinted at an imminent release.
Ever since its announcement back in November, the Steam Machine has remained a decent option for a stress-free entry way into the world of PC gaming.
As the hardware offers a midway point between the convenience of a games console and the open ecosystem of PCs, many people are waiting on a price and release date for the system.
Fortunately, it looks like both could be revealed soon.
Valve has avoided issuing a price for the Steam Machine due to ongoing market conditions, such as the global RAM shortage affecting the price of components.
But with prices starting to drop, it might be the right time for pricing and release dates to be revealed.

The Steam Machine Could Get A Larger Reveal Later This Summer
Some fans believe that the latest SteamOS beta update has revealed plans for an imminent Steam Machine reveal (via SteamDeckHQ).
The latest changelog for the update includes the following note: “Initial support for upcoming Steam Machine hardware”. This could indicate an update on release dates or pricing could be soon approaching.
Valve has been slowly adding features for the Steam Machine in each SteamOS patch since the hardware was announced, but this appears to be the first time it’s outright been acknowledged by the changelog, which is interesting.
Meanwhile, it’s also being reported that the Steam Controller may have started shipping to Valve, with the company reportedly receiving a large quantity of “Wireless PC Controller” last week.
While the Steam Controller is not affected by the RAM shortages, it’s believed that Valve wants to ship the controller at the same time as the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, indicating that a release date reveal could be on the horizon.
It’s hard to say for sure though, and considering how volatile and unpredictable the hardware market has proven lately, it still seems like a bumpy road ahead for any Steam Machine hopefuls.
However, it does seem to point to Valve potentially readying up for a bigger reveal of the hardware later in the summer, with a release date potentially also being pencilled in for around then.
