Starfield’s Nintendo Switch 2 Port May Not Ever Release – Rumor

The latest Nintendo Direct, even if it was a Partner Showcase, is officially in the books and offered a hefty number of announcements. Bethesda, for instance, closed out the show by revealing release dates for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition. Meanwhile, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is out later this year.

If you noticed the conspicuous lack of a certain space-faring RPG, then you’re not the only one. With rumors of Starfield coming to PS5 on April 7th, what about the Nintendo Switch 2 port? According to shinobi602 on ResetEra, it’s been “pushed out. And might not even come out at all.”

Granted, neither Bethesda nor Microsoft ever officially announced it was coming, rumors circulated back in January 2025 about a potential port. Then again, Diablo 4 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection haven’t been announced for the Switch 2 either. Of course, in the wake of Borderlands 4’s development on the platform being paused (that too, apparently, for several months), you have to wonder if it’s another resource issue.

Thankfully, this doesn’t mark the end of support for Starfield in general. Bethesda confirmed it was working on making space travel “more rewarding” and adding new game systems alongside a “few other smaller delights.” There’s also a new story DLC in the works, which seemingly focuses on a new faction called the Terran Armada.

While rumors of a “2.0” update circulated, especially in the wake of several creators attending a showcase for the same, you shouldn’t expect something on the level of, say, Cyberpunk 2077. Of course, time will tell, and if the datamined references to interplanetary travel are real, it could at least address a long-running issue among fans.
