Although it is one of the most ambitious games in Bethesda’s history (and Microsoft’s as well), Starfield did not get off to a flying start on PS5, far from it…
In fact, the highly reputable analytics firm Alinea Analytics revealed that Starfield sold only 140,000 units on Sony’s console in one week. The sci-fi RPG’s late arrival on PS5 two and a half years after its initial launch on Xbox and PC could be one of the factors behind such a slow start.
However, Starfield is doing better than other Xbox-published games on PS5 released during the same timeframe, such as Ninja Gaiden 4 (100,000 copies), Flight Simulator 2024 (77,000 copies), and The Outer Worlds 2 (63,000 copies). As for Forza Horizon 5, it has sold 5.7 million copies on PS5 alone, quite an absolutely impressive result.
Since April 7, the Steam version of Starfield has sold an additional 55,000 copies, generating $2.3 million in revenue. The game has surpassed $200 million in revenue and 3.7 million sales on Steam alone since its launch in September 2023.

It’s interesting to see how Starfield is performing on PS5. Despite being a highly ambitious title, it seems to have received a mixed reception. It’ll be intriguing to follow its journey and see how it evolves over time.
