Stardew Valley players can now enjoy a brand new fan-made horror expansion for the PC version.
Over the years, Stardew Valley has continued to be the game that keeps on giving thanks to the wide amount of mods and custom content created by fans.
Mods have cropped up over time which completely transform Stardew Valley from the humble farming life sim that it is into something completely different.
In order to give the game a creepier atmosphere, one modder has created a Lovecraftian horror-themed expansion for Stardew Valley, which you can download for free now.
CozyPsychologist’s Eldritch Fishing expansion does exactly as it says on the tin by adding “something ancient and timeless” that “writhes beneath the waves”.
40 Lovecraftian-inspired fish are added to the game for you to catch at any of the regular fishing spots littered around Pelican Town.
These new fish also include some legendary catches, which each hold unique mechanics that weren’t found in the base game version of Stardew Valley.
These new legendary fish are caught through four new quests which are now available to play, where each one will challenge you to catch some difficult fish.

Stardew Valley’s Eldritch Fishing Mod Is Giving The Game A New Horror Slant
In addition to the 40 new fish, the mod also adds five new cooked dishes and four craftable potions for you to create when catching these specimens, where you can acquire the recipes via a “mysterious traveling merchant” who sets up shop at the beach above the tide pools.
The merchant also sells some new decorative items in the form of five new paintings, each one featuring Cthulhu-style images which don’t necessarily look out of place with the other new content added in the mod.
Other new additions in the mod include two rings which boost your power—albeit at a cost—and a tank to house the new fish added to the game.
The merchant also sells a new type of bait which will help you catch the four new legendary fish and gather their mysterious gems to craft powerful potions.
In order to install the mod, you’ll need to have a few other mods installed on top of the Eldritch Fishing expansion. You will need to have downloaded SMAPI, Content Patcher, DSS (Double Size Sprites), BETAS (Button’s Trigger Action Stuff), and SpaceCore to get it working properly.
There are also two files you’ll need to have in there for it to function properly: the main mod file and then a secondary file which adds in the ability to use bait to catch the new legendary fish. Make sure you have both files installed if you want the mod to run as intended.
You can download the Eldritch Fishing mod by grabbing it from the Stardew Valley page on Nexus Mods now.
