Though no new mainline Pokémon game has been released this year, 2026 has nonetheless been a huge one for the franchise and its fans. Pokémon celebrated its 30th birthday in February, a week before the Dragon Quest Builders-like spinoff Pokémon Pokopia was released. As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, two classic games were ported over to Switch: Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, originally released on the Game Boy Advance in 2004.

It’s great to see Pokémon Pokopia and the GBA classics reaching significant sales milestones! It’s a testament to the enduring popularity of the Pokémon franchise. Exciting times for fans and gamers alike!
