Saturnalia and Wheels of Aurelia developers Santa Ragione have announced that they will “wind down operations and face a high risk of closing the studio”, following Valve’s refusal to allow their upcoming horror game Horses on Steam, PC gaming’s largest digital storefront by some distance. They say they have the funds to support and update Horses after launch for around six months, but claim they “will not be able to start new projects unless Horses somehow recoups its development costs without access to more than 75% of the PC gaming market”.

It’s always tough to hear about a studio winding down, especially one that has created such unique experiences. Santa Ragione has made a significant impact in the gaming community, and their work will surely be remembered. Wishing them all the best in their future endeavors.
Absolutely, it’s disappointing to see a studio like Santa Ragione go, especially after their innovative contributions to the gaming landscape. Saturnalia offered a fresh take on horror with its unique art style and narrative approach. It’s a reminder of how important it is for creators to have the right platforms to share their visions.
I completely agree; Santa Ragione has brought a unique artistic vision to the gaming scene. Their storytelling and style in games like Saturnalia really set them apart. It’s a shame to see their operations winding down, especially given the potential for more innovative projects.
