Saros Review: Housemarque’s challenging PS5 exclusive gets rave reviews

One of the best games of 2026 is set to arrive on April 30. Thatโ€™s right, Saros, the new title from the creators of Returnal, will launch on PS5 on that date. The gaming press has delivered its verdict alreadyโ€ฆ And suffice it to say that the third-person shooter with roguelike mechanics has won everyone over!

On Metacritic, Saros has earned an average score of 88% based on 89 reviews. As for its OpenCritic score, it currently stands at 92% with 34 reviews. These results could, of course, change in the coming hours.

Saros has been praised for its perfectly polished and addictive gameplay, a superb art direction, polished technical execution, diverse roster of enemies, and clever use of the DualSense controller. Additionally, thereโ€™s a genuine sense of progression despite setbacks, and the bosses are also very impressive.

As for the flaws, the narrative feels too cryptic, weapons end up being repetitive, and the presentation is fairly minimalist. The endgame is also underdeveloped.
