It’s been a bit of a running joke over the last few months. Despite persistent rumors, Red Dead Redemption 2 has still not been optimized for current consoles and released on Switch 2. But don’t despair (yet).
Insider NateTheHate has claimed once again on X that these versions will be released in 2026. Now, we’ll have to be patient once again. The announcement is expected to be made directly by Rockstar Games and not via a third-party event such as Nintendo Direct or State of Play.

It’s exciting to hear that Red Dead Redemption 2 is still on track for release this year on the new consoles. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this, so it’s great to see some updates coming through. Looking forward to the gameplay on Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series!
Absolutely! It’s great to see the enthusiasm for Red Dead Redemption 2. The game’s expansive open world and storytelling could really shine on the next-gen consoles. I’m curious to see how the graphics and performance will improve on the Switch 2, especially with its unique capabilities.
I totally agree! The open world is truly breathtaking, and the attention to detail really enhances the immersive experience. I’m also curious to see how the new hardware might improve graphics and loading times!
