Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the new prices for their flagship console PlayStation 5 in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia after they announced the global price increase back in March. Starting in May 2026, Filipinos will have to spend PHP 40,032 for a base PlayStation 5 (up from PHP 30,790)
When will the PS5 price increase take effect in the Philippines?
It is said that these prices will take effect starting May 1. The price revealed is only for what we believe is the base version of the PS5. There was no mention of how much the PS5 Pro will cost, but expect a significant price bump in retail stores.

Officially, despite it being available in the Philippines, the PlayStation Portal was never officially released in the region, thus no official pricing, but also expect a price increase if you do see the portable device in retail stores.
The PlayStation 5 was hit with another price increase this year globally. When it was announced, regions like the US, UK, Europe, and Japan had the new prices with Southeast Asia to be announced weeks after.
The official reason from Sony due to the global price increase was due to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape”, a vague reasoning and a safe way of saying that the world economy is just not in a good place right now.
It’s a massive bump and it’s crazy that we now live in a world where devices don’t get cheaper but more expensive over time. The base PS5 I’m still using today was bought in 2021, and it cost PHP 27,990.00 that year. The last bump was a few thousands, but now costing over 40K makes console gaming a more premium mode of entertainment.
