As of 1:30 ET on Wednesday February 11, Mewgenics has an all-time best concurrent-player count of 74,176, which is 4,000 players above Binding of Isaac: Rebirth’s record of 70,701. Mewgenics is also leagues above most of McMillan’s other releases, in term of concurrent player count. The original Binding of Isaac has a peak of 12,575 players, while Super Meat Boy has a high of 5,153. Mewgenics already made back its budget just 180 minutes after release.
Mewgenics is a collaboration between Super Meat Boy and Binding of Isaac dev Edmund McMillan and Bombernaut developer Tyler Glaiel. It is a roguelike-tactics game where you command a platoon of cats through three torturous acts. Any kittens who survive the onslaught become the parents to a new generation of feline warriors.
