Metro 4’s Cancelled 2022 Build Has Allegedly Leaked, Featured Fully Open World – Rumor

Not even minutes after reports emerged that a new Metro game could be announced next week, a cancelled 2022 build for Metro 4 has allegedly leaked.

Allegedly 120 GB in a ZIP file, the title reportedly focuses on Metro 2033’s Hunter from January 2033 to December 2034. Alongside an apparently fully open world (with the ability to backtrack to previous areas), it seemingly includes a crafting system for creating different ammo types, an upgradeable suit, and activities such as disproving rumors across multiple stations.

Khan and Bourbon would have also reportedly served as main characters. Artyom, the protagonist of the mainline games until now, allegedly appears with no dialogue.

Various alleged images from the cancelled build can be viewed here. Announced in 2020, the fourth mainline Metro title hasn’t been revealed or received concrete details since. 4A Games discussed the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on development and said the next game would feature a “darker” story as a result.

Whether it was referring to the same build or a new one remains to be seen. 4A Games was also working on a “multiplayer experience,” though it had yet to announce or detail what that could mean. With a new State of Play allegedly happening on April 16th, we could see the next Metro appear there. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
