Ghost of Yotei Meets Assassin’s Creed in New Free RPG

An upcoming RPG that looks like a mix of Ghost of Yotei and Assassin’s Creed has hit Steam Early Access and boy does it look promising.

Havenhold is a new RPG combining combat similar to Ghost of Yotei with the open world exploration vibes of modern Assassin’s Creed games.

In it, you wield the powers of ancient primordials and command armies to fight against other players’ armies, where you’ll need to call upon your allies with their own unique abilities to find victory on the battlefield.

Launching into Steam Early Access on Tuesday (6 January) the game is available for players located in Asia regions, with the servers primarily located in Hong Kong.

Havenhold Will Only Be Available In Asia At Launch

As it stands, Havenhold won’t be available outside of Asia for the time being. Developer Wolfpack Games has said this is so the company can perform ‘efficient testing & faster iteration’, to help identify issues and deploy fixes quicker.

The limited release will also allow for a healthier in-game ecosystem’, where ‘focusing our limited marketing resources on one region will ensure a fully populated server for the best possible experience’.

Wolfpack has also said that it is still currently building out a live-ops team, and isn’t big enough to support more regions outside of Asia for now.

For now, you might want to bear in mind that if you plan on picking up Havenhold, English-language translation and international servers may be released further down the line.

The early access version of the game will serve as a taste for what the full game will include, and further updates will expand it with ‘more content, from dungeons to more depth in the territorial siege gameplay’.

The full release is intended to come around 12 months after the early access launch, so it ought to be with us in January 2027. Wolfpack has assured players that it ‘takes player feedback seriously and have put systems in place to effectively process fixes and suggestions’.

The blurb on Havenhold reads: “Havenhold is an Action Sandbox MMO set in an ancient Eastern world.

“Wield powerful Primordial Avatars and engage in real-time conflict between rival Mountain Sects. Experience dynamic combat with parry, block, and directional attacks in skill-based duels, large-scale 100 player siege wars, and chaotic open-world skirmishes.

“Outside of battle, craft gear, gather resources, and make strategic choices to build your tribe’s power. Construct, conquer, and ascend the sacred peak.”
