Free Skyrim Overhaul Is A Perfect Addition For Thief Players

Skyrim players can now download another overhaul for a quest in the Thieves Guild questline, bringing some much needed depth to the story.

We’ve previously covered mods by creator Flowrifto, who seems to be taking it upon themselves to overhaul the entire Thieves Guild questline in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

These mods add some new options to each quest in the storyline, making for some wild and unpredictable outcomes. It’s perfect for those who enjoy playing as a thief, adding some Immersive Sim-like qualities to the questline.

Flowrifto’s latest creation is Dampened Spirits Plus Plus, which overhauls the quest of the same name.

The fourth quest you do as part of the Thieves Guild questline, Dampened Spirits normally tasks you with sabotaging the Honningbrew Meadery, a competing business with the Black-Briary Meadery, allowing Maven Black-Briar to corner the market.

Flowrifto’s mod, which is described as “a highly responsive, roleplay heavy overhaul” of the quest, adds a few alternative options for you to consider, giving you more choice in how to approach and complete the quest.

The Dampened Spirits Mod In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Has “A Lot Of Missed Roleplay Potential”

As Flowrifto notes, there’s a lot of missing roleplay potential in Dampened Spirits, which the mod has attempted to address with all the new content added.

The list of new options for you to roleplay with includes several characters being made non-essential from the start of the game, giving you new ways to play if one or more of the characters end up dead before you start it.

For example, if Sabjorn dies before Mallus explains what’s the job’s about, Mallus simply asks you to kill the rats. Meanwhile, if Mallus dies before you meet him, Maven simply asks you to find a clue about Sabjorn’s silent partner.

The mod also allows you to start the tasting without poisoning the vat, convince Sabjorn to cancel the tasting and save him from prison, or rat Mallus to Sabjorn and watch the boss throw his employee out.

There are also some options available to you if you’re a speech-oriented character, such as being able to persuade or threaten Sabjorn to give you the information you want, or confronting Maven Black-Briar by refusing the job or doing it your way.

There’s a lot more to this mod than I can describe here, so I’d recommend going to the official mod page on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Nexus Mods page and checking it out for yourself.

Altogether, there are around 200 new lines of dialogue spliced with vanilla lines, with many new scenes created depending on your choices during the quest.

Additionally, if you use A Chance Arrangement ++, Brynjolf and Mercer will be non-essential during the quest as well, and the game responds to their demise accordingly.

All-in-all, if you play a character in Skyrim who utilises a lot of thief-like skills, this new quest overhaul should be a fun one to check out.
