This is pretty bad news for fans of the Dead Space franchise. Chuck Beaver, a former writer and producer, says a new installment is highly unlikely due to unsatisfactory sales figures and finds it unfair that Dead Space was canceled after the third game.
« Horror games have a bit of a ceiling, you know, and I think the number back in Frank Gibeau’s day was 5 million units to keep going on Dead Space. I think the number is like 15 million units now, given the cost of things. »
Last October, the franchise’s co-creator was already trying to convince EA to make a fourth installment, to which they responded negatively. Apparently, the project hasn’t moved forward, and hopes for a new Dead Space are fading day by day.
