Destiny fans petition for Destiny 3, with heartfelt messages

A petition for Destiny 3 has garnered over 48,000 signatures in a very short time, with many explaining why the game means so much to them.

“The desire for new adventures, fresh storylines, and innovative gameplay features is palpable among players everywhere. Destiny 3 would not only meet these demands but also expand the horizons of what is possible within this universe,” reads the petition.  “Our passion and commitment to the Destiny franchise drives us to reach out to Sony and express our collective voice. We believe in the potential of Destiny 3 to inspire new generations of gamers and to keep the fire of the Guardian spirit alive.”

Along with signatures, there are many comments explaining why the Destiny franchise has meant so much to the players.

“I have played Destiny since the Alpha in 2014, I have been here for every expansion, usually buying the most expensive version so I could get all the content once it came out. This franchise has helped me make friends that I never would have met, and got me through really tough times in my life. “

“This is the only game I have ever loved. Destiny 2 got me through some of the darkest times in my life. This game brought me countless friends and memories. I am incredibly sad about this, and haven’t figured out how to put the right words together. I just don’t want Destiny to die.”

“My greatest gaming experiences came from playing raids, dungeons, and campaigns. Irreplaceable moments and just pure fun with my girlfriend I was 19 years old when I started Destiny; I’m now 29. Destiny has been part of my life for over a decade and wish the same for the next generation.”

“This game has been a major part of my entire life and has always been a positive constant throughout every major change I’ve gone through in my life. To see it end like this is heart-breaking.”<

“Destiny growing up was home to me and helped me get through the roughest childhood growing up.”

“Destiny has been such a big part of my life. It came out when I was 14 years old and I have played it through high school, college, getting married, having kids and I can’t imagine a world without more stories and new adventures in Sol.”

Bungie’s message about the end of the game has not helped; they admitted all the mistakes that fans have been telling them for years, most notably that The Final Shape was the perfect ending and D3 should have followed. Instead Bungie implemented a raft of changes, including side-lining the Director and replacing it with Portal which worked more like something from a mobile game, with seemingly endless tasks which required messing about with modifiers just to get small rewards. It was hated by almost every player.

At the moment, it seems that Destiny 3 is not in development.  As someone pointed out in the Petition comments, Sony made a big move into Live Service games, most of which have failed or been scrapped, and yet they the one huge franchise they had, the one that people loved,  they have run in to the ground with terrible management decisions and will not continue.
