Batman: Arkham Knight looks so good in this next-gen inspired overhaul that it could easily pass as a PlayStation 6 game or beyond.
When it comes to superhero games inspired by our favourite comic book characters, it doesn’t get much better than the Batman Arkham series from Rocksteady Studios.
The first game in this series, Batman: Arkham Asylum, was originally released in 2009 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it instantly set a new high standard of what fans expect from a superhero adaptation in the world of video games.
We would later be treated to two banging sequels with Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight, released in 2011 and 2015, respectively.
At this time, there’s no telling whether or not we’re going to get a new Batman: Arkham game, especially after Rocksteady Studios’ colossal flop that is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
However, if there’s one franchise that can get the studio back on track, a return to Arkham City and Gotham City will not harm its reputation (maybe).
Despite being released a decade ago, Batman: Arkham Knight could probably pass as a current-gen game; it looks so good. Yet, when you throw this fan-made remaster into the mix, it levels up into next-gen territory.
“Batman: Arkham Knight brings the award-winning Arkham trilogy from Rocksteady Studios to its epic conclusion,” reads the description of the game. “In this explosive finale, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city that he is sworn to protect, as Scarecrow returns to unite the super criminals of Gotham and destroy Batman forever.”
The remaster in question has been showcased on the YouTube channel Digital Dreams, and to say that Batman: Arkham Knight looks better than ever would not be an overstatement.
Using “extreme settings mods”, this version of Batman: Arkham Knight is powered by an NVIDIA RTX 5090, resulting in lush ray tracing effects, beyond all limits reshade at a glorious 8K/60 frames-per-second.
“This on an OLED monitor,” said FAXIII7 in the comments section, picturing how much better this already fantastic remaster could look.
“I had no clue this was a mod. How did you get it?” asked blank1053, to which Digital Dreams replied, “It is my reshade, and you can get it on my Patreon.”
Batman: Arkham Knight is out now on PC, and modern PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles. If only we’d get an official remaster that looked this good.
