Zelda Meets Tomb Raider in Charming New RPG You Can Try Free Now

Steam currently has a freebie you should give a go if you’re a fan of either The Legend Of Zelda or Tomb Raider.

Legend Of Zelda fans who watched this week’s Nintendo Direct will have no doubt seen the new trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment which also featured a release date.

While we have to wait a few more months before we get our hands on it, there is a Zelda-like game coming to Steam next year, but you can play it for free right now.

It’s called Lifted and the Zelda link should be apparent from the visuals alone, which are similar to The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom. It also gives me the same vibes as The Plucky Squire.

Lifted’s description should do the talking next, as it reads, “Play as slacker Ari, unwillingly starring in his professor’s deeply personal, HILARIOUS era-hopping tiara heist. Swing, climb, puzzle through time & outsmart a rival tomb-raider – an ’80s blockbuster adventure!”

As you can tell, there’s also a bit of Tomb Raider inspiration sprinkled into Lifted, but more like the original games for the PlayStation before the reboot trilogy went more dark and gritty with its narrative and gameplay.

Visually, the game’s quite striking and I’m a big fan of the variety of worlds you can explore, all of which are beautifully lit which pairs nicely with the cartoon art style.

You can see from the gameplay trailer that there’ll be a lot to interact with as you solve its many puzzles, many of which will require you to push, pull and twist objects to find a way forward.

It looks very cute, and fans of Nintendo games will surely get a kick out of it.

Unfortunately, it’s not available on the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2; instead, it’s only for the PC players on Steam.

At the time of writing, Lifted doesn’t have a release date, only a vague release window of 2026 so who knows when the full game will come out.

In the meantime though, you can sample a free demo of the game that’s available now, and should give you a good idea of what to expect from the full adventure when it drops next year.

Like I said, if you like your cute adventure games like The Legend Of Zelda and treasure-hunting titles like Tomb Raider, this one might be for you.
