Zelda: Majora’s Mask Returns In Bold FPS Game, Free Download Included

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will soon be playable as a first-person shooter in one of the wildest crossovers we’ve seen in months.

There’s a lot of talk at the moment about Nintendo remaking The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and while that’s very exciting it feels like only the beginning.

Loads of Zelda games are deserving of a remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, and my personal preference would have to be Majora’s Mask.

That said, what we’re talking about today isn’t the kind of remake I had in mind, and yet it’s still ridiculously cool.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Meets Perfect Dark

Majora’s Mask was released for the Nintendo 64 back in the year 2000, but launching in the same year was Perfect Dark.

This first-person shooter was just as good as GoldenEye 007, and while successor titles never lived up to the original’s quality it’s still a fondly remembered series many would like to see return.

Using decompilation, a PC port of Perfect Dark is now available to download and it’s led to some bonkers mods.

One such mod has converted Clock Town from Majora’s Mask and made it a playable arena in the game’s Combat Simulator, complete with all of the building interiors.

Despite being such widely different games, it doesn’t look that out of place, though perhaps that’s because both games were developed for the Nintendo 64.

For those who haven’t played it Clock Town is a sort of hub area found in Majora’s Mask. It’s where Link’s adventure truly begins and you find yourself returning at several points in your playthrough. Whether it be collecting a new item or starting a new day cycle with the Ocarina of Time it’s a location burned into the brains of many gamers.

We should add that if you haven’t played Majora’s Mask you can do so on the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 with a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. You’ll need the Expansion Pack, though, as that’s the only way to access Nintendo 64 games.

The mod was shared online by Graslu00, who promoted it on X as well as sharing a gameplay video on YouTube.

On the YouTube video, Graslu00 said: “First fully custom level for the Perfect Dark PC port by Raf! This is using his own toolset for Blender that allows for a more streamlined way to make custom maps for Perfect Dark. The map and models come from the 3DS remaster of Majora’s Mask!”

If you’re interested in giving this mod a go for yourself, there’s unfortunately good news and bad news.

The good news is the PC port of Perfect Dark is available now, and you can find a link to it in the description of Graslu00’s video.

The bad news is the Clocktown map isn’t available yet, but it’s said to be dropping soon. It looks like it’ll be worth the wait though and we’re excited to see what other maps get added in the future, whether they be from more Legend of Zelda games or different IPs.
