Yoshi and the Mysterious Book review: the little dinosaur is back with yet another succesful adventure

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is set to launch exclusively on Switch 2 on May 21, 2026. The platformer developed by Good Feel (Princess Peach: Showtime!) has gone somewhat unnoticed despite its release being just around the corner.

Nevertheless, it remains a high-quality title, as Yoshi and the Mysterious Book boasts an 80% Metacritic average (based on 57 reviews). On OpenCritic, the score is also 80%, though with only 17 reviews so far.

Among the game’s strengths, we can highlight its magnificent art direction, its very accessible gameplay, its generous content, and the overall formula that emphasizes curiosity.

As for its weaknesses, it’s worth noting an almost complete lack of difficulty, some occasional slowdowns, and a certain repetitiveness that can set in as the hours go by.
