Xbox Series X/S Prices Increasing Again in US From October 3rd

Following price increases for Xbox Series X/S consoles worldwide in May, Microsoft has announced further hikes for those living in the United States. Starting on October 3rd, the Xbox Series X will cost $649.99, up from $599.99, and its digital-only version will cost $599.99 instead of the current $549.99.

The Xbox Series S 512 GB will cost $399.99 (up from $379.99), and the 1 TB variant will cost $449.99 (up from $429.99). However, it’s the Xbox Series X 2 TB Galaxy Black Edition that sees the largest price increase, costing $799.99 (a $70 increase over its current price).

Controllers, headsets and “products in all other markets” (likely referring to games) will remain the same. As for the reason behind the second hike, Microsoft cited “changes in the macroeconomic environment” in the United States. While it understood these to be “challenging,” they’ve been decided after “careful consideration.”

Console prices have been in turmoil for the past several months, with Nintendo and Sony also announcing increases for the Switch 1 and PS5. Of course, there could be further hikes in the coming months, so stay tuned for more updates.
