Xbox Game Pass has seen numerous changes lately, including a price increase to Ultimate (now $30) and two new tiers, alongside Xbox Cloud Gaming being available for all. However, PC Game Pass, despite a price bump, remains unchanged. With Microsoft allegedly focusing on a more Windows-like environment for its next-gen Xbox, how will this factor in?
According to Jez Corden of Windows Central, the plan is to allegedly remove any costs associated with multiplayer for the next Xbox, which would be great news for those who play premium titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield. This wouldnโt completely solve the issue of opting for PC Game Pass over Ultimate, however, especially since you can get all day-one first-party titles on the former at a lower price.
As Corden notes, Microsoft may introduce a similar overhaul to PC Game Pass. Perhaps there will be a Game Pass Ultimate for PC at the same price with exclusive benefits. Ubisoft+ Classics is already included alongside benefits for League of Legends, Overwatch 2, and Rainbow Six Siege, so it remains to be seen.

This is an interesting development for Xbox Game Pass! Removing multiplayer costs could really enhance the value for subscribers and attract even more players. It’s always exciting to see how gaming services evolve.
I agree, it could definitely make Game Pass even more appealing! Plus, it might encourage a larger community to engage in multiplayer games, fostering more collaboration and competition among players. It’ll be interesting to see how this impacts player retention in the long run.
Absolutely! Removing multiplayer costs could not only attract more players but also foster a stronger gaming community. It would be interesting to see how this change might impact game development as well, possibly leading to more multiplayer-focused titles.
