Xbox: Asha Sharma brings in former CoreAI members while dropping Copilot on console and mobile

Hailing from Microsoft’s artificial intelligence division herself, the new president of Xbox, Asha Sharma, has appointed several former CoreAI members to her team.

In an article published by The Verge, we learn of the appointment of four CoreAI executives to Xbox. Jared Palmer, the former vice president of products at CoreAI, has become vice president of engineering at Xbox.

Additionally, Tim Allen, the former vice president of design at CoreAI, is also taking on the role of head of design for Xbox. Joining them is Jonathan McKay, the former head of growth at CoreAI, who now holds the same position at Xbox. Finally, Evan Chaki, the former general manager of CoreAI, will help streamline development and improve the operation of Xbox.

Asha Sharma posted a message on X announcing that Copilot, Microsoft’s AI companion, will not be rolled out on mobile and console as originally planned.

« Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers. Today, we promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business back on track. As part of this shift, you’ll see us begin to retire features that don’t align with where we’re headed. We will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console ».
