Sony’s limited time discount on the PS5 has been outmatched, as several UK retailers offer a whopping £100 off the normal price.

The PlayStation 5 is officially five years old in November and yet, despite its age, it’s even more expensive now than it’s ever been.

This is thanks to two price increases over the course of this generation, with the last one in April bumping up the price of the PlayStation 5 digital console by £40 to £429.99. The standard version with a disc drive, however, is £479.99.

As announced last week, Sony has temporarily reduced the price of both consoles to £339.99 and £434.99, respectively, until October 1. However, if you want it even cheaper, Argos and Smyths have your back with an even bigger discount.

At Argos, the PlayStation 5 digital edition console is £100 off at £329.99, which is £10 less than Sony’s current sale. The PlayStation 5 Slim with a disc drive, meanwhile, is also an extra tenner off at £424.99.

Alternatively, you can pick up the standard PlayStation 5 Slim console with a copy of NBA 2K26 for the same price of £424.99 – meaning you get the game for free.

This same discount is available at Smyths too. There’s even a bundle for the digital edition which essentially gives you Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 for free, although it’s out of stock at the time of writing.

While both consoles have been discounted to a similar price before, it’s the cheapest price you can find out there right now – with the likes of Currys and Very matching Sony’s price drop.

It’s unclear how long this price will hold for, so you’re better acting sooner rather than later if you are considering taking the plunge.

It’s a pretty good time to invest into Sony’s console too. Ghost Of Yōtei is set to launch next week, while Saros and Wolverine are due next year. More importantly, Lumines Arise is due in November, if flashy, rhythm puzzle games are your kind of freak.

There’s a growing library of great titles to jump back into as well, including Returnal, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Astro Bot.

Sony aired a State Of Play presentation showing various PlayStation 5 titles earlier this week. Beyond Wolverine and Saros, it featured Nioh 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Deux Ex Remastered.
