Just as I’ve cycled through my own phases—bubbly geek, emo wannabe, and now-writer—The Sims has undergone its own transformations. From experimental spin-offs in the early 2000s to full-scale reinventions of its mainline entries, the iconic life simulator has lived a dozen different lives.
