This week, the website iFixit reported that Valve was discontinuing production of certain components for the Steam Deck LCD. For example, it had become nearly impossible to find a new battery for the handheld console released back in February 2022.
Ultimately, Kaci Aitchison Boyle, a spokesperson for Valve, revealed to The Verge that iFixit will continue to get original batteries for the Steam Deck LCD through partners. Of course, these parts will be equivalent to the ones provided under the official repair program.
Shortly thereafter, Kyle Wiens, CEO of iFixit, confirmed the news and said a new shipment of batteries for this model is expected soon.
