Valheim Meets Stardew Valley in New RPG You Can Try Free Soon

Valheim is a titan of the survival genre, whilst Stardew Valley is the king of cosy gaming.

If you had a combination of the two, you might end up with something that looks like Leaforia, an upcoming life sim from Leaforia Studio.

Leaforia follows the usual cosy formula; you’ll move to a new location, setting up a homestead.

Players will partake in farming, selling produce, raising animals, and befriending the town’s locals.

There’s even combat, which is where a flavouring of Valheim creeps in.

Not everyone is so friendly in this new land, so you’ll need to dodge, parry, and stagger human enemies using your trusty sword or firearms.

If you own a dog, you can also train your canine companion to fight alongside you.

The story in Leaforia centres around the Tree of Life which must be defended from corrupted lumberjacks; I’d imagine it’s those people you’ll be fighting with.

“Leaforia, a mysterious town where fate has taken an unexpected turn for you. Caught red-handed for illegally copying and selling books, you now find yourself paying off a hefty fine by managing the rundown farm of old Walter,” the synopsis reads.

“As you till the soil and tend to your crops, you uncover a deeper conflict—the townsfolk, devoted protectors of nature, are in a desperate struggle against a band of cursed lumberjacks determined to fell the legendary Tree of Life.”

You don’t have to do this alone though, as Leaforia supports four-player co-op.

Or at least, it will do.

The game remains without a release date but it will soon launch a demo on PC via Steam after previously delaying the launch of one earlier this year.

By all accounts, it looks as Leaforia will unveil a demo during the next edition of Steam Next fest.

That’s due to run from 13 to 20 October.

As for what the demo will consist of, well, we don’t quite know just yet.

If you’re not familiar, the demo was formerly delayed during the previous Steam Next Fest as devs said it needed “more work and love to meet our standards”.

It’s at the very least nice to know it’s seemingly reached a good place.

If you want to be informed when the demo drops, I’d heartily recommend you wishlist Leaforia on Steam.

Steam Next Fest events are always incredibly exciting; they bring a ton of free demos to the site, allowing PC users to try some upcoming titles.

From AAAs to indies, there’s always a wide array of demos on offer.

As we near the event we’ll be sure to bring you our personal favourite picks.
