Ubisoft keeps hiring for Beyond Good & Evil 2, though discreetly

Announced for the second time back in June 2017, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been completely gone for a good seven years now. However, Ubisoft has not canceled the project.

This week, the French publisher posted a job offer for a Technical Sound Designer based in Montpellier. It clearly states that the person hired will work on Beyond Good and Evil 2. In the description, this second installment, which will serve as a prequel to the first episode, is presented as “an open-world action-adventure game set in a captivating space opera universe.”

“Thanks to revolutionary technology based on the proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 offers an immersive experience of exploration and space piracy across a solar system teeming with exotic locations, colorful characters, and mysteries to unravel, either solo or with friends. So, if you’re ready for an extraordinary adventure, join us in building System 3!”

Thus, the nature of the game itself does not seem to have changed much from that of the version shown in 2017.

Absolutely, it does seem like Ubisoft is dedicated to bringing the project to life despite the long wait. It’s interesting to think about how the team’s evolving vision might incorporate new technology and storytelling techniques that weren’t available back in 2017. Let’s hope we hear more soon!
