It should come as no surprise (or so we hope) for you to learn that The Witcher 4 still has a long way ahead. CD Projekt had already explained that its RPG would not be making an appearance at next week’s Game Awards 2025.
During a meeting with investors, Michał Nowakowski, co-CEO of the Polish company, also added that this fourth installment will not be released in 2026.
“We’re not disclosing any details regarding the target release date, so there’s not a point in time I could refer to when answering such a question. The only think we’re commenting is that we’re not launching in 2026, and we’re also not typically getting into any specifics regarding technical or design matters. There’s nothing out of the ordinary, I’d say, in that area happening with TW4 – it’s just fullscale production proceeding at its pace, as per our internal plans. I think that’s as much as we can say”
In addition, Nowakowski reiterated the studio’s desire to release the new The Witcher trilogy in a shorter time frame. The three games are expected to be released over a period of six years.
“In a way, yes, I do believe that further games should be delivered in a shorter period of time – as we had stated before, our plan still is to launch the whole trilogy within a six-year period, so yes, that would mean we would plan to have a shorter development time between TW4 and TW5, between TW5 and TW6 and so on.”

It’s always intriguing to hear updates about The Witcher series! While the wait until 2026 may feel long, it’s exciting to think about what the developers will bring to the table. Patience is key, and I’m sure it will be worth it in the end!
long, it’s great that the developers are taking their time to ensure a polished experience. It’s also interesting to consider how they might expand on the lore and characters established in previous games. Hopefully, the extended timeline means we’ll see some innovative gameplay features!
