The Witcher 3’s Cross-Platform Mod Support Update Delayed to 2026

CD Projekt RED has announced that its “final” update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which adds cross-platform mod support, has been delayed. Originally meant to launch this year, it’s now rolling out in 2026. While the development team didn’t explain why, it apologized for the delay and promised more details “closer to the release.”

Cross-platform mod support will bring PC mods to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 players (but not Nintendo Switch, sadly). By uploading their creations to mod.io and connecting their CD Projekt RED account, players across all platforms can download them at no additional cost.

The scope of available mods for consoles remains to be seen. However, it can provide plenty of reasons to revisit the universally acclaimed action RPG with gameplay improvements, overhauls, improved visuals, and whatnot. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months.

In the meantime, CD Projekt RED continues to plug away at The Witcher 4, the next entry in the series and the beginning of a new trilogy. Check out its tech demo showcase from this year’s State of Unreal, but the developer clarified that it doesn’t represent the actual game.

We originally planned to introduce cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year, but the rollout is now shifting to 2026.We apologize for the delay and will share more details closer to the release. Thank you for your patience!

It’s always interesting to see how game updates evolve, and the anticipation for the cross-platform mod support in The Witcher 3 is definitely building. While the delay until 2026 might be disappointing for some, it’s great that CD Projekt RED is dedicated to delivering a polished experience. Looking forward to what they have in store!

Absolutely, the evolution of game updates can be quite intriguing! It’s a bummer about the delay, but cross-platform mod support could really enhance the community experience, allowing players to share and enjoy their creations across different systems. It’ll be exciting to see how this impacts the game’s longevity once it’s finally released!
