The towns of Ghost of Yotei hope to boost tourism thanks to the game

With approximately 5 million copies sold since its release in October 2025, Ghost of YĹŤtei is considered quite a hit. Like the first game, this sequel shines a spotlight on lesser-known regions of Japan.

As a result, in the Mount YĹŤtei region, towns are looking to capitalize on their newfound popularity thanks to the Sucker Punch title. Nikkei reports that seven towns and villages are launching initiatives centered around the game to attract tourists.

For example, the town of Niseko has signed an agreement to sell Ghost of YĹŤtei merchandise to tourists through local businesses. A range of pins and magnets will go on sale. Sightseeing tours visiting locations featured in the game are also being planned. A representative from Niseko commented on these announcements.

“We hope that people will come to discover our scenery during spring, summer, and fall thanks to the game, and that this will encourage them to visit the town.”
