In August 2021, Cold Iron Studios released Aliens: Fireteam Elite on consoles and PC. It is a third-person cooperative shooter set in the Aliens universe. The title later arrived on Switch via a cloud version in 2023.
It is this version that has been removed from sale without any warning from the studio. The servers will shut down on August 5, 2026, making Aliens: Fireteam Elite unplayable. Note that this only affects the Switch version. The game will remain available and playable as usual on other platforms.
On the Nintendo console, the game suffered from numerous latency issues due to its cloud-based nature.
It’s always tough to see a game being discontinued, especially one that had so much potential. Aliens: Fireteam Elite brought a unique experience to fans of the franchise. Hopefully, players can cherish the memories and moments they enjoyed while the game was available.
