The Switch 2 exclusive Kirby Air Riders gets good marks

Ahead of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond next month, Switch 2 welcomes another exclusive title from Masahiro Sakurai, the designer known for the Super Smash Bros franchise. Today, we’re looking at the racing game Kirby Air Riders, thanks to reviews from the specialist press.

At the moment, the Nintendo title has an average Metacritic score of 78% based on 64 reviews. This is much better than the first Kirby Air Ride, which was released on GameCube in 2003 and has a score of 61% (28 reviews). On OpenCritic, the game has a score of 80% (25 reviews).

Reviewers of Kirby Air Riders appreciated the accessible gameplay, colorful art direction, exemplary fluidity, compelling soundtrack, and the ability to play in short sessions.

As for its flaws, it’s worth noting the extremely low difficulty offline, a lack of clarity during races, mini-games that lack variety, and a lack of innovation compared to the original game.
