The Steam Deck finally lets you download games with the screen off

Valve has rolled out a highly anticipated update for the Steam Deck, adding the option to download games and updates with the screen off. Until now, players had to keep the console on for downloads to continue.

This new low-power download mode allows the console to continue downloading content even when the screen is off. Once downloads are complete, the Steam Deck automatically goes into sleep mode.

Users can briefly turn the screen back on to check progress, then switch it back to stealth mode. The feature is enabled by default when plugged in, but can also be used on battery power through the power settings. A simple change, perhaps, but one that has been requested since 2022.
