The publisher Playstack (Balatro) has been sold to an American investment firm

Playstack is an indie game publisher that has recently made a name for itself with titles such as Balatro, Abiotic Factor, and RACCOIN: Coin Pusher Roguelike.

This British company, founded in 2016, has just been acquired by Integrated Media Company (IMC), an investment firm specializing in the acquisition and development of entertainment and digital media companies. It already owns brands such as GameSpot, Fandom, and Fanatical.

TruFin, which had owned Playstack until now, sold its 84.5% stake to VantageCo for a total of $151 million. VantageCo is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Integrated Media Company. The publisher is now valued at $169 million.

Playstack CEO Harvey Elliot stated that nothing will change for the time being, as this is “a change in ownership rather than a change in who we are.” The company will continue to publish indie games.
