In a lengthy post on social media, S-GAME explained its creative process for Phantom Blade Zero. Set to launch on PS5 and PC on September 9, this dark fantasy action-RPG was created entirely by hand.
Indeed, the Chinese studio went to great lengths to explain that it did not use generative artificial intelligence. Character models were created using 3D scans of actors, and the English and Chinese voice acting was performed by real actors.
The weapons were designed in collaboration with real blacksmiths, the combat was recorded using motion capture, and the locations in China were recreated after being visited in the real world. Finally, the maps and paintings featured in Phantom Blade Zero were hand-drawn.
In short, S-GAME is firmly opposed to AI and says it is proud to have engaged in “continuously building an exceptional, passionate team”.

It’s great to see developers sharing insights into their creative process! The emphasis on an AI-free approach is interesting and shows a commitment to originality. Looking forward to seeing how that vision translates into the final product!
