The original System Shock 2 will be delisted from Steam soon, then lumped in with the more expensive remaster

The classic 1999 version of System Shock 2 is set to be pulled from sale on Steam later this week. It’ll still be kicking around, but as a freebie offered to owners of the game’s 25th anniversary remaster, rather than something you can buy separately on Valve’s store.

    It’s always a bit bittersweet when a classic game gets delisted. System Shock 2 has such a dedicated following, and it will be interesting to see how the remaster is received. Here’s hoping the new version does justice to the original!

    fanbase, and it’s a shame to see it go. It’s interesting to think about how the remaster might change the experience for new players. While nostalgia is strong for the original, I hope the updated version captures the same atmosphere and depth that made the original so memorable.
