The original Tekken arcade game, released in 1994, is being re-released this week on modern consoles as part of Hamster Corporation’s “Arcade Archives” collection. This is the game’s very first arcade version, not the PlayStation adaptation released in 1995.
This re-release will allow players to rediscover the series’ founding title in a version faithful to the original arcade cabinet, complete with the usual Arcade Archives features such as quick saves, online leaderboards, and various display settings.
The game will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S. This release is part of Hamster Corporation’s efforts to preserve gaming heritage, as the company regularly re-releases arcade classics.
For fighting game fans, this is an opportunity to discover the origins of a franchise that has become one of the most important in the genre, with its 3D combat system that was truly revolutionary for its time.
