While we hope that 2026 will bring us unexpected indie and AA games, titles from well-known franchises are also on the horizon.
Let’s take a look at the major games coming out over the next 12 months. Of course, several of these could be delayed.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Almost six years after its initial release, Nintendo’s life simulation game is coming back to Switch 2. It will feature improved graphics, new features, and some additional content.

Nioh 3

Another Souls-like game is on the horizon! This action RPG set in the samurai era will have us facing terrible yokai as we explore a relatively open world. The combat will, of course, be very difficult.
Mario Tennis Fever

In the absence of a true 3D Mario game, we’ll have to settle for a tennis game. Still, the game promises to be action-packed, with a roster of 38 characters and around 30 rackets, each with their own special abilities.
Resident Evil Requiem

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Monster Hunter also has its own sub-license for narrative RPGs. In this third installment, players find themselves in the middle of a conflict between two nations. A Rathalos egg containing twins is discovered. Our rider sets out on a quest for the truth.
Crimson Desert

After Returnal, Housemarque turns its attention to a new third-person roguelike shooter. Players will find themselves on the surface of the planet Carcosa, controlling a Soltari protector named Arjun Devraj. There, they will face dangerous inhabitants and terrible secrets.
007 First Light

James Bond is back in the gaming world with a brand new epic adventure from the developers of the Hitman franchise. We follow a young 007 in this action-adventure title. He finds himself facing Bawma, the big bad guy played by singer Lenny Kravitz.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Gotham City will open its doors in this LEGO game, which will allow us to play as the famous Dark Knight. Iconic enemies from the DC universe will wreak havoc in this huge open-world city. All with a healthy dose of humor.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Nintendo’s dinosaur will soon be embarking on a brand new adventure. Together with his friends, Yoshi will come across a talking book that has just fallen from the sky. It contains information about strange creatures, and it will be up to our hero to discover them and reference them in the book.
Phantom Blade Zero
- September 9, 2026 on PS5 and PC
Make way for a new dark fantasy action RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5. You’ll play as Soul, a warrior who has only 66 days left to live. He’ll fight assassins and defend his values in a ruthless world.
Grand Theft Auto VI
- November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
While a delay is obviously still a possibility, the next GTA is currently expected at the end of the year. The state of Leonida will serve as the playground for Lucia and Jason. This episode will also mark the return of Vice City and an even more comprehensive multiplayer mode.
Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac Games is far from done with Marvel superheroes, as Wolverine will be getting his own game. This single-player action game will feature breathtaking scenery and bloody combat.
Forza Horizon 6
- Available in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC
This year, Playground Games will bring its famous open-world racing game series to Japan. We can assume that the formula established in the fifth installment will be further refined.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

The first Tomb Raider game from 1996 will be getting a complete remake for modern consoles. Lara Croft will sport a new look. The environments will be completely reworked using the Unreal Engine 5.
Halo: Campaign Evolved
- Available in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
In terms of remakes, we will also see a remake of the first Halo in 2026. The campaign will be completely rebuilt, with revamped cutscenes and audio. The adventure can be played solo or cooperatively.
The Duskbloods
- Available in 2026 on Switch 2
FromSoftware is currently working on an exclusive title for Nintendo’s latest console. We don’t have many details about this production yet. It will likely be a multiplayer PvPvE title.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
- Available in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
Capcom will be back in 2026 with the return of the Onimusha franchise. After two remasters, a completely new installment will debut on consoles and PC. We’ll explore the city of Kyoto during the Edo period, where we’ll have to face monstrosities called Genma.
Gears of War: E-Day
- Available in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC
Marcus Fenix will return to action in this new installment that will take us through “Emergence Day.” Designed with Unreal Engine 5, The Coalition’s title will deliver unbridled and spectacular action.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
- Available in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
Freshly announced at The Game Awards, this racing game will take us to the Outer Rim. After the fall of the Empire, the Galactic League was created. This underground circuit, financed by syndicates, sees champions compete amid chaos.
Control Resonant
- Available in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
After the excellent Alan Wake 2, Remedy is back with its connected universe. This time, a tormented Manhattan serves as the backdrop. Dylan Faden, the brother of the heroine from the first Control, must defeat paranormal forces. This action-adventure RPG will focus on hand-to-hand combat.
Fable
- Available in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC
Although its 2026 release date remains uncertain, the reboot of Peter Molyneux’s famous RPG saga is eagerly awaited. Playground Games (Forza Horizon) is at the helm of this episode, which will take us back to the magical world of Albion.
