The most anticipated games of 2026

While we hope that 2026 will bring us unexpected indie and AA games, titles from well-known franchises are also on the horizon.

Let’s take a look at the major games coming out over the next 12 months. Of course, several of these could be delayed.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Almost six years after its initial release, Nintendo’s life simulation game is coming back to Switch 2. It will feature improved graphics, new features, and some additional content.

Nioh 3

Another Souls-like game is on the horizon! This action RPG set in the samurai era will have us facing terrible yokai as we explore a relatively open world. The combat will, of course, be very difficult.

Mario Tennis Fever

The first Tomb Raider game from 1996 will be getting a complete remake for modern consoles. Lara Croft will sport a new look. The environments will be completely reworked using the Unreal Engine 5.

Halo: Campaign Evolved

In terms of remakes, we will also see a remake of the first Halo in 2026. The campaign will be completely rebuilt, with revamped cutscenes and audio. The adventure can be played solo or cooperatively.

The Duskbloods

FromSoftware is currently working on an exclusive title for Nintendo’s latest console. We don’t have many details about this production yet. It will likely be a multiplayer PvPvE title.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom will be back in 2026 with the return of the Onimusha franchise. After two remasters, a completely new installment will debut on consoles and PC. We’ll explore the city of Kyoto during the Edo period, where we’ll have to face monstrosities called Genma.

Gears of War: E-Day

After the excellent Alan Wake 2, Remedy is back with its connected universe. This time, a tormented Manhattan serves as the backdrop. Dylan Faden, the brother of the heroine from the first Control, must defeat paranormal forces. This action-adventure RPG will focus on hand-to-hand combat.

Fable

Although its 2026 release date remains uncertain, the reboot of Peter Molyneux’s famous RPG saga is eagerly awaited. Playground Games (Forza Horizon) is at the helm of this episode, which will take us back to the magical world of Albion.
