Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy is returning to movie theaters β€” in Extended Edition form, no less β€” in 2026 for a two-weekend event, Warner Bros. and Fathom Events announced Friday. And this time, fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work will be able to immerse themselves in the action with D-Box technology. Just imagine being thrown around like an oliphaunt rider for four-plus hours while you soak in Return of the King in 4DX.
