It is still a little early to make accurate predictions, but a report published by Newzoo forecasts a sharp rise in global revenues for the gaming sector. This is despite a crisis characterized by layoffs and studio closures in recent months.
By 2025, the video game market could have generated $197 billion in revenue worldwide. This would represent a 7.5% increase over last year. Of course, the final figures will not be published until January. For now, these are forecasts based on data observed between January and November 2025.
Newzoo expects console gaming to reach $45 billion, an increase of 4.2%. The picture is pretty similar for PCs, with $43 billion (+10.4%). Of course, the mobile sector will remain the largest, with a projected $108 billion (+7.7%).
According to principal analyst Michiel Buijsman, these results reflect “gamers spending more on the games and ecosystems they already enjoy, rather than growth due to a sudden expansion of the player base.”
Here is the ranking of console and PC games that generated the most revenue in 2025 in six Western markets (United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain).
