The Gearbox CEO responds sarcastically to criticism of Borderlands 4 performance

The launch of Borderlands 4 has gone far from smoothly. Released last week, the game is suffering from major performance issues on PC, which has already earned it a 35% negative rating on Steam.

Faced with criticism, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford responded sarcastically on social media.

In response to a player complaining about the use of AI upscaling, Pitchford said:

“Code your own engine and show us how it’s done, please. We will be your customer when you pull it off.”

While the intention was to be funny, many found the tone arrogant, criticizing the executive for his lack of communication and pointing out the game’s high price tag despite its technical issues.

Gearbox has promised fixes, but controversy continues to swirl around Pitchford’s management style.
