After it was initially leaked online, Tomb Raider Catalyst debuted to an excited crowd with some exciting details and impressive gameplay.
Announced during The Game Awards 2025, Tomb Raider: Catalyst showed off a reimagined Lara Croft, closer to her classic design than the Square Enix 2013 reboot. While the trailer wasnât big on new details, it did showcase what looks to be the newest feature of the gameâa pair of wrist-mounted grappling hooks that turn Lara into Spider-Man.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the title offers the seriesâ largest world yet, inviting players to uncover secrets, delve into lost tombs packed with intricate puzzles and solve ancient mysteries using Lara Croftâs unmatched brilliance and adventure tech. Tomb Raider: Catalyst will also deliver an intense narrative of trust and betrayal that tests Lara Croft in new ways.
However, that wasnât all. Alongside Tomb Raider: Catalyst, Crystal Dynamics showcased a brand new reimaged version of the original Tomb Raider, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. This game sets a new standard for re-envisioning a classic by masterfully balancing innovation with gaming heritage, capturing the wonder and excitement that defined a genre while igniting a new sense of discovery through expanded storytelling.
âOur collaboration with Amazon Game Studios has been truly transformative for these ambitious projects,â said Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, Scot Amos. He continued, âWith Tomb Raider: Catalyst, weâre crafting our most expansive and innovative Tomb Raider adventure yet, while Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis allows us to revisit where it all began through a modern lens.â
Tomb Raider: Catalyst is set to debut in 2027, while Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set to launch sometime in 2026. Both games are coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. For more information on both titles, visit www.playtombraider.com.
